Oil on Linen

Oil on Linen Mounted on Cradled Panel

Jane is a classically trained American artist who studied at the Florence Academy of Art, US and the Parsons School of Design, NYC.

”Executed in oil on linen canvas, this piece embodies my fascination with the elusive flow of time. The careful layering of oil paint allowed for a richness of depth and texture, capturing the fine details of each object with both precision and softness. The use of light and shadow was essential in bringing the objects to life, enhancing their connection to the past while evoking a sense of timelessness and focus on everyday objects that carry stories of another era. I aimed to express the quiet power of memory and the way in which objects can act as vessels for the moment they hold. This painting is an exploration of how time, though intangible, can be felt deeply in the presence of things long gone but never forgotten.

”This particular still life painting captures a moment suspended in time, where memory and history converge. Depicted is a nineteenth-century Quaker bonnet resting delicately on a vintage hat stand, accompanied by an aged pair of spectacles and a collection of timeworn books. The dark, muted tones of the composition contrast sharply with the soft light that bathes the front of the bonnet and surrounding objects, creating a sense of quiet reverence and nostalgia. The light acts as a subtle beacon, illuminating the fragility of the past, inviting the viewer to contemplate the passage of time and the fleeting nature of memory.”
