“I trained seriously in ballet and modern dance throughout my childhood and into adulthood. Although I dabbled in visual art along the way, I did not begin painting realism until 2019. Since 2022, I have been fortunate to study with artist Daniel Sprick, who has generously shared insights that took him decades to develop. My progress has been driven by my unwavering work ethic and self-discipline instilled through years of dance training.
“After Every Fierce Storm, I Am Wired to Rise is a self-portrait that blends elements of realism and surrealism. The painting moves between tightly controlled passages and loose, painterly areas. These shifts in application, along with the hand gesture and flowers, guide the viewer’s interpretation without imposing a fixed narrative. As the title suggests, the work reflects my capacity to transform suffering into strength. I understand this not as an individual phenomenon, but as something deeply rooted in our shared humanity. For me, painting is a direct expression of alchemizing stagnation, pain, and other difficult emotions into something beautiful.”
