LEVELS/AGES
In this 7 week course students will create one portrait sketch drawing per week, working with a new model from life every week. We will be asking how we can convey naturalism, structure and the character of our sitter in just one session.
Chelsea will guide students through each stage of developing the portrait sketch, grounding the portrait with anatomical structure, conceptual form knowledge and light narrative. Students may choose to explore how brevity, economy and visual impression can aid in a more expedient one session portrait, while some may choose to use these sessions to hone the skills necessary for beginning a drawing, completing a “block in”. For those looking to strengthen the basic tools of building a portrait drawing this will be an opportunity for tremendous growth!
Chelsea will guide the class with short lectures, group discussion and one on one critiques.
